Influences: Colony

To finish off 2018 we introduce Colony, a duo with past releases on labels such as Context Audio, and two new heaters on our label (our store), we caught up to find out what makes him tick.

Bad Company - The Nine

G: For me, this has always been what drum and bass is for me. Hard hitting drums with a rolling bass line. Smooth and linear with little twists and turns along the way.

Current Value - Falsify ft. Xtrah

G: Over the years I have really grown fond of Current Values refined sound design and punchy drums. I remember when this track came out, I couldn't get enough of it.

Teddy Killers - New Drums

G: Back in the days of collecting vinyl Bad Taste Records were no doubt the biggest part of my collection. I remember this track specifically when it came out. The drums are just totally relentless. Definitely left a mark on me.

The Prodigy - Breathe

C: I wouldn't have even bothered without this tune existing.

Pendulum - Slam

C: I'm not an original OG junglist like a lot of people, I was heavy into Prodigy and Chemical Brothers and all the big beat thing, but I kinda didn't bother with D&B in the early days before this tune. First time I heard this tune in my friend's car with his ridiculous sub, it kinda blew me away - Once I found out what it was it allowed me to find a lot more music!

Chase & Status - Take Me Away

C: First tune that made me really get D&B; I was at Breaknek in Portsmouth on South Parade Pier, this tune came on that I had heard before but I never really heard it through a rig. Once it dropped it kinda shocked me how different it sounded and really made me look a bit deeper.
